Subject: Fwd: Today is our anniversary : 40 YEARS IN AMERICA
My dear family, friends and everybody on my travel list,
Today is a very special day, 40 years ago we landed in New York,
emigrating from the Soviet Union, my husband, my 2 year old son and me,
we did not know anybody, did not have money, just a chance to get
out of Russia, it was like a jump in a big black hole, no information,
no knowledge. Thank God, Jewish organizations helped us all the way
and took care of us, i left my wonderful parents and we did not know if
we will see each other again, but they, my brother and his family came to
NY five years later, my parents lived in NY for 20 years and always said
that they were the best years of their life and that i prolonged their life
for 20 years, they would never live so long in Russia.
everything was a challenge, raising a child, giving him Jewish and
secular education, studying myself to get my dentist license, working
very hard, learning the whole new way of life.
also meeting wonderful people, having new friendships lasting for 40 years,
traveling the world, having 2 wonderful grandsons, being part of the
Jewish community, helping Israel, being thankful and appreciative.
from the bottom of my heart i thank my friends whom i met from
the beginning of arriving in NY, from whom i learned so much goodness,
learned to give back, learned to appreciate and to be positive,
learned to help and to be tolerant and many , many more good things.
bad, good, great, that is life, but we are very very lucky. this is a great
country of opportunity for everybody who wants to study and to work
very hard to make a good life,
